Dr. Soufiane M’sou

Technical and sceintific Advisor, Lead on ICCA Activities

Prof. M'sou, an expert in ecology and ethnobiology, served as Deputy executive director and head of projects and strategic partnerships at MBLA - ICCA focal point of MBLA from its inception until the end of 2024.

He currently serves as Technical and sceintific Advisor and MBLA’s Focal Point for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (ICCA), a Member of the ICCA Consortium Global Council, and the Regional Representative for North Africa.

Prof. M'sou works closely with Moroccan ICCAs, conducting research on ICCA policy and governance frameworks. He leads the implementation of ethnobiology and biodiversity conservation initiatives within Morocco’s "Territories of Life". He play a key role in supporting ICCAs, particularly in the characterization, identification, and documentation of ICCAs, as well as their registration in national and global databases. In addition to his work with MBLA, Soufiane M'sou is a Professor at the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques in Ouarzazate, Morocco.
